What would
a visit look like?
History
- Details of the problem (chief complaint), Finding out if there was
any trauma? Details about the mechanism of injury. Comprehensive history
of any contributing factors, including past, and family history.
- Insidious onset looks at Lifestyle or contributing factors including:
daily exercise level, diet, stress level and type of work.
Examination
- Includes measurement of ROM and flexibility, muscle strength testing,
posture, walking patterns, leg length checks, and hands on palpation
of the spine.
- When the spine is checked by hand to detect spinal misalignments,
muscle tightness, joint restrictions, swelling or pain.
X-rays and Special Tests
- X-rays are a very valuable test to help rule out more serious conditions
and to check for biomechanical changes in the spine. MRI, NCV and EMG
are just a few of the special tests that may be necessary in more complicated
cases.
Report of Findings
- To explain what was found, recommended treatment, how long it will
take, how much it will cost
Treatment
- Gentle adjustments to realign the body and allow the body to heal
itself. Pain relief is often faster, and safer than taking aspirin
Costs
- In 1995 a study by US Dept. of Commerce compared Chiropractic care
to Non-Surgical medical treatment. Chiropractic was only 1/10th of the
cost.
